A Parent First: The School Performance

Last week, we completed a parent first! We attended our first child’s first school performance!

Walking into that preschool it was almost as if we were finally granted this rite of passage  that was owed to us. We’d worked hard over these last (almost) 3 years and this is where it got it us.

With grandparents present, we were sitting on the edge of our seats … starting at our child … watching him stare blankly at all the other kids around him..waiting patiently for him to do something that shows he’s been paying attention…and then cheer proudly!

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Little Man’s First Day

My Little Man hit a huge milestone yesterday.

He started his first year of preschool!

I was prepared for an emotional morning–Not from me; from him! Starting at Mother’s Day Out last year was borderline traumatic. He was practically shaking on his first day. When I dropped him off with his amazing teacher (Mrs. Cheri), he went into hysterics. The next month was really difficult. But over time, he got into a routine. By the end of the year I was in tears that he was having to leave his teacher. She loved and cared for him so much.

Leading into this school year, I was expecting the same. I was prepared for a hard morning with him latching onto me. I expected setbacks in his potty training. I literally was preparing for the worst!

As you can tell from the photo, I actually got the exact opposite!

Walking up to the school he was more concerned that he had pancakes for breakfast instead of donuts! He wore his backpack like a champ and walked right past NaNa and to his classroom!

He let me grab a few shots before heading inside and before I knew it I’d kissed him goodbye and walked out the door! Having him react in such a big boy way made me…sad. I didn’t get emotional until I saw this Carter’s commercial. My baby is all grown up!

Although I got an earful about his day after I picked him up, I was so thankful when I got an email in my inbox from his teacher with photos from the Little Man.

Here’s a few of the shots she took on his first day!
