Friday Giveaway: UPrinting

On my last day of work before becoming a stay-at-home mom, one of the last things I did was throw away my business cards. It was actually a really sad moment for me (besides the fact that they were the most beautiful cards I’d ever possessed) as it was an official symbol that I was giving up the person I was and taking on a new life and role as mother.
15 months later, I’m finding myself in need of calling cards again. Although I’m not working, as a blogger and contributor to Dallas Moms Blog, I’ve been asked on more than one occasion how I could be reached. Giving out multiple emails or URL’s is just a lot of work! Thankfully, this is where UPrinting.com came into the picture.

UPrinting is a one-stop online printing shop and provides services involving almost everything paper; from greeting cards and booklets to envelopes and business cards.
When I chose this company do create my calling cards, I loved that I could personally design and create what I wanted mine to look like using my own artwork and images down to the die-cut of the card.
When I attend Bloggy Boot Camp or BlogHer this Fall, I don’t have to worry about pulling out the same ol’ generic calling card! I know that mine will represent what I want for my blog and contributing websites.
That’s why I’m working with UPrinting to bring you this giveaway!
One person will win
250 Die-cut Business Cards

Target Gift Card Necklace / $10

I hope so because you won my latest (and last) giveaway!

I’m so sorry your gift card won’t come in a necklace like the one above,
but I think you’ll still find it just as useful!

If you didn’t win, I still have a gift to share with you!

Did you know Target as a Clearance Schedule?
When items are marked clearance, the store will markdown items from 15%, 30%, 50%, 75% and if there’s anything left 90%, and usually on these days:

MONDAY: Kids Clothing, Stationary Items, Electronics, Baby
TUESDAY: Domestics, Food, Women’s Clothing, Pets
WEDNESDAY: Men’s Clothing, Toys, Lawn and Garden

THURSDAY: Housewares, Shoes, Lingerie, Sporting Goods, Music, Movies, Books, Decor, Luggage

FRIDAY: Auto, Cosmetics, Hardware, Jewelry

However, Christmas markdowns are a little different.

This holiday season, you might notice Target will follow a markdown schedule that looks like this:

50% off – always the day after and will last about 5 days

75% off – on or around January 1st
90% off – usually on or around January 5th

Happy Shopping!

After-Christmas Shopping? Giveaway No. 5

The presents have been unwrapped.
And the tree is being taken down.
But you won’t find me anywhere around!
Copyright TheTshirtmama.com 😉

The day after Christmas is more exciting for me than Black Friday. The stores are almost always packed, and the lines are crazy, but instead of returning or exchanging, I’m buying!

I’ve spent the last few years shopping the day after-Christmas and taking advantage of the clearance sections. I usually make my rounds to Michael’s, Kohls, and JCP. but I’ve found the best after-Christmas sales happen at Target. You’ll find wrapping paper, Christmas cards, ornaments, decorations, lights, everything on sale starting at 30% off.

Now I know what you’re thinking. You said you weren’t going to impulse clearance shop anymore for decorations? And you’re right! But I’m not doing it for me! With my brother being overseas and his fiance away at college, I’ve been making a 12 Days of Christmas box for each of them to make them feel more at home. Each day they open 1 gift leading up to Christmas. I prefer for the gifts to be something somewhat useful or edible, and although most come from the Dollar Store, I’ll usually throw in some more expensive items as well. This is where planning ahead is important! If I shop the year before, I can find much better Christmas themed gifts on clearance than trying to buy the same items right after Thanksgiving. I usually keep a storage bin full of knick knacks, paperware, cards, etc, and then pull it out the next year. When December rolls around, I almost always have the whole 12 Days ready to go. All I have to add are the snacks! (Here’s an example I found online if you’ve not heard of this before!)

Another reason I shop after-Christmas sales. . .
As you’ve learned, I love gift wrap! The frugal side of me just can’t fork up the money to pay for nice gift wrap that will only be ripped to shreds and thrown away. So each year, I wait until the clearance sales go to 50%-75% off the original price, and I snatch! If I’m lucky I can grab the large rolls, glittery rolls, and even neutral rolls that can be used for all occasions!

Did I mention I love gift wrap? :)

If you’ve never gone after-Christmas clearance shopping, I highly encourage that you try! Just don’t forget a few rules:
  1. Get there early!
  2. Don’t be afraid to fight a crowd.
  3. Only buy what you think you’ll use.
  4. Use the first day as a way to scope things out that you want, and only buy what you think will go fast. Wait a few days for clearances to be marked down even further on items you can hold out on.
I think your ready! So, here’s a little something to help you shop on Monday!

Wrapping It Up No. 4

Did you know Christmas is a week from Sunday!?

That means there’s only 1 shopping weekend left to pick up those gifts for loved ones.
(unless your the Christmas Eve kind of shopper!)

Hopefully by now you’ve gotten most of your list crossed off,
and if you’re even more organized, might have a few wrapped and under the tree.

I know my friend Sally is ready to go with her gifts!
After a fun girls night out on Monday,
she came home to find her husband had done all of the wrapping!

When she walked into her kitchen, this is what she found:

I don’t know how Sally feels –
ecstatic to not have to wrap or frustrated to have to unwrap and then wrap again!

I know for some, wrapping can be the worst part of the process.
The tape, the scissors, picking out paper, the folding, the creases. . .

I have a confession.

I LOVE it!

I have dozens of rolls of Christmas paper in all different styles and colors.

And of course you have to accessorize!
I have drawers filled with bows, ribbons, and gift tags to match.

But if you’re looking for a Christmas gift bag, you’ll have to try some place else.
For me, it doesn’t get any better than a perfectly wrapped present!

That’s why this week I want to share a little of my gift-wrapping love with you!

For my fourth drawing, I’m giving away these beautifully letterpressed gift tags from Do De Line

They’re the perfect way to have a little fun while your gift sits under the tree waiting to be opened!

Write a note and use them for that special someone,
or save the ink and reuse them for years to come!

Either way, these gift tags will add that extra special touch to your wrapping job . . .
even if your wrapping paper is Justin Bieber.

This Rafflecopter giveaway will end Saturday at 12:01am!
And don’t forget, if you’ve already done some of the entry options, you’re ahead of the game!

Comfort Treats No. 3

When the holidays roll around, that’s the time my kitchen gets the messiest!

I have quite a few favorite treats that I make every year,
and most of them have come from this cookbook!
I know, I know!
I’ve mentioned Taste of Home a number of times on my blog
but it’s because they’re just so darn good!

I have yet to make a dish out of one of their recipe books that I haven’t liked.

I normally share my favorite recipes when sharing a cookbook,
but I think this time I’ll share my husband’s.
(He’s already begging me to make these again!)

by Muriel White, Brampton, Ontario

Makes 3 dozen

1/2 c. butter
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
3 tbsp. baking cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 c. graham cracker crumbs (about 32 squares)
3 1/2 c. flaked coconut
36 large marshmallows (about)
wax paper

1. Line a baking sheet with waxed paper; set aside.
2. In a saucepan, combine butter, milk, cocoa, and vanilla. Cook and stir over medium heat until butter is melted and mixture is smooth.
3. Remove from the heat; stir in cracker crumbs and 1 1/2 c. coconut.
Let stand until cool enough to handle.
4. Using moistened hands, wrap about 1 tbsp. of mixture around each marshmallow (dip hands in water often to prevent sticking).
5. Roll in remaining coconut; place on prepared baking sheet.
6. Cover and freeze until firm.
7. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator or freezer.
8. May be frozen for up to 2 months.

In the end, you’ll have something that looks like this
Looks delicious, huh?

From sweet treats to bountiful breads and savory bites,
you’ll want this recipe book on your shelf for all the holidays!
